No. Frittu calculates your macros from the recipes in your meal plan. Add a recipe to any meal slot and the nutrition numbers update automatically. There's no barcode scanning or food database search involved — just your meal plan.
You set calorie and macro targets during onboarding. You can also tap any macro ring or bar on the Progress tab to edit your goals inline. If you're not sure what targets to use, the built-in TDEE calculator estimates your needs based on age, weight, height, activity level, and goal using the Mifflin-St Jeor formula.
Macros are AI-estimated based on recipe ingredients and typical serving sizes. Calories are always derived from protein, carbs, and fat using the Atwater formula (protein×4 + carbs×4 + fat×9), so the four numbers are always internally consistent. Values are approximations — useful for tracking trends and planning, not clinical precision.
