Calories, protein, carbs, and fat per serving and per 100g. Toggle between the two with a single tap — perfect for comparing products side by side.
Your allergen profile from onboarding is cross-referenced on every scan. A red warning banner appears when anything conflicts — no manual checking needed.
The full ingredients list sits collapsible below the macros. No more squinting at tiny text on the back of packaging under supermarket fluorescent lights.
The core barcode scanner — macros, ingredients, allergen check — is completely free. Pro users get AI-powered ingredient analysis on top.

Frittu pulls from Open Food Facts first — a global community food database. When a product isn’t listed there, Frittu users can contribute it directly from the app: enter the name and per-100g macros, and it’s instantly available to every other Frittu user who scans the same barcode.
Every successful scan also caches automatically to the Frittu community database, building a proprietary index of Australian supermarket products over time. The more people scan, the more complete it gets — and every scan makes the database smarter for the next person.
Frittu supports EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, and UPC-E barcodes — the four formats used on virtually all packaged food sold in Australian supermarkets. The scanner uses ZXing C++ compiled directly into the app, so it works without any external scanning service or internet lookup for barcode detection.
Yes. Macros per serving, the per-100g toggle, serving size, the full ingredients list, and the allergen cross-check are all completely free for every Frittu user — no subscription required. AI ingredient insights (which flag additives red or amber with plain-English explanations and a processing level rating) are a Pro feature.
If a product isn't found in Open Food Facts or the Frittu community database, the app shows a "Not found" overlay with an "Add this product" option. Tap it, enter the product name and per-100g macros, and it's saved immediately — both for you and for any other Frittu user who scans the same barcode in the future.
During onboarding, Frittu asks you to select any allergens that apply to you — things like gluten, dairy, tree nuts, peanuts, sesame, shellfish, and more. When you scan a barcode, Frittu maps the product's allergen tags from Open Food Facts against your personal list. If there's a conflict, a red warning banner appears at the top of the result screen. No allergens selected means no cross-check — the feature is opt-in based on what you enter in your profile.
Free for all users. Know what you’re putting in your body before it goes in the trolley.
