A recipe imported from Instagram into Frittu, with macros and allergen check
RECIPE IMPORT · FREE + PRO

That reel you saved? It's a recipe now.

Share a link from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or Facebook — Frittu reads the caption, builds a real recipe, and checks it against your own allergens and goals.

Most people don't lose recipes. They lose the retrieval.

Fifty saved posts you'll never open again isn't a recipe collection — it's a junk drawer. Frittu fixes the part that actually matters: turning a share into something you'll actually cook from.

📱
STEP 1

Share the link

From the app itself, or straight from Instagram or TikTok's share sheet — no copy-paste.

🧠
STEP 2

Frittu reads the caption

AI structures it into a real recipe — ingredients, steps, macros, scaled to one serving.

STEP 3

Checked against your profile

Flagged against your allergens and goals — you decide what to do with it.

A saved link is still homework

You still have to open it, read it, and do your own maths on the quantities. Here's what changes when Frittu does that part for you.

Saves the link or the caption as text
Extracts a structured recipe — ingredients, steps, macros
Nothing checked against you
Checked against your saved allergens and goals
A dead-end save
Feeds straight into your meal plan, shopping list, and macro tracking
Copy-paste required
Share straight from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or Facebook — no app-switching
Allergen conflict is a dead end
Pro can rewrite the recipe around it with Dietary Swap
🔍

If it's not in the caption, Frittu won't make it up

Some posts don't actually write the recipe down — the method's only spoken in the video, or the caption's just a comment and a hashtag. Frittu only extracts what's actually written. If there's nothing to extract, it tells you honestly instead of guessing — you can paste the caption yourself if you've got it, or try a different post.

🛡️

Your recipe, checked against what matters to you

Every import is checked against the allergens and goals already saved in your Frittu profile. If something on your list turns up, Frittu flags it clearly — it's your own chosen recipe, so nothing gets removed or substituted automatically. You just get told what's actually in it before you cook it.

Want it adapted instead? Frittu Pro's Dietary Swap can rewrite the imported recipe around the conflict in one tap — dairy-free, gluten-free, or any of 12 swap types — so you're not stuck choosing between skipping the recipe or working around the allergen yourself.

Free + Pro

Frequently asked questions

How does Frittu import a recipe from Instagram or TikTok?

Share the post to Frittu — either from the app's share sheet or by pasting the link. Frittu reads the caption, extracts the ingredients and steps with AI, and structures it into a real recipe with calculated macros.

Does Frittu watch the video, or just read the caption?

Just the caption. Frittu reads the text the creator wrote — it doesn't transcribe audio or analyse video frames. If the recipe was only spoken in the video and never written down, Frittu won't have it to extract.

What happens if the post doesn't actually contain a recipe?

Frittu tells you honestly instead of inventing one. Some captions are just a comment and a hashtag — if there's nothing to extract, you'll be asked to paste the caption yourself or try a different post.

Is recipe import free?

Yes — on the free tier, imports draw from your 15 monthly AI uses (shared with scans). Frittu Pro increases that to 10 imports a day.

Does Frittu check imported recipes for my allergens?

Yes. Every import is checked against the allergens saved in your profile and flagged clearly if something matches — since it's your own chosen recipe, nothing is removed or substituted automatically.

Can I adapt an imported recipe if it has an allergen I'm avoiding?

Yes. Frittu Pro's Dietary Swap can rewrite the imported recipe around the conflict in one tap — dairy-free, gluten-free, or any of 12 swap types — so you're not stuck choosing between skipping the recipe or working around the allergen yourself.

Can I import from YouTube too?

Yes — Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook are all supported.

Do I need an account to import recipes?

Yes. Recipe import isn't available in guest mode — you'll need a free Frittu account.

Where do imported recipes go? Can I find them again later?

Every import is saved to your Imports tab in Scan History, so you can always find it again — even if you never open it the moment it's ready.

Does the recipe show who originally created it?

Yes — Frittu credits the original creator and links back to the original post, so you can always find your way back to where the recipe came from.

Do I have to sit and wait for the import?

No — importing happens in the background. You'll get a notification the moment it's ready, so you can keep scrolling Instagram while Frittu does the work.

Does Frittu scale the recipe for how many people I'm cooking for?

Every imported recipe is scaled to one serving by default. You can view the ingredient list scaled up to more servings right on the recipe screen when you're ready to cook for a group.

Stop losing recipes in your saved folder

Share it to Frittu once — it's structured, checked, and ready to cook, every time.
